Everyone has a story to tell about their life and career. Your story is simply all the encounters (people, places, things and opportunities) you’ve experienced along your journey to becoming who you are. No matter where you are in your career (in school, just starting out in the workforce, a seasoned professional, or even retired), there is a story being written about you. The good news is, no one can write a story about you, but you. You are the author. Therefore, you have control over how dynamic your story reads and ends.
As the author, you get to develop the content for your story. You decide the subject matter, the plot, the climax, the resolution, as well as the characters that will have a starring or supportive role in your story (and how long they will remain a part of your story). Lastly, you get to decide when a chapter ends and a new chapter begins. It is a lot to manage, but you can do it if you remember one thing: it’s okay to rewrite the story and make as many drafts as you need to get it to read as dynamic as you like. Any author will tell you that it is difficult to write the perfect story in one sitting. It may take several months, years and even drafts before getting to a manuscript that turns into a dynamic read. Also note, an author may use editors, illustrators, and publishers for support throughout the process.
As you can see, much is required for an author to develop a dynamic read. As the author of your career, much is required of you to excel in your chosen profession. Yes, you may need assistances from others from time to time to accomplish your goals. It can become frustrating along the way; but the one thing you cannot do is give up when it comes to writing your story.
If you give up, you will never have the opportunity to know your true and full potential or the impact you could have on the world. Others will never know your potential as well. Second, others will not have the opportunity to relate to your story and be inspired by your story. Have you ever read a story or listen to someone speak and thought in the back of your mind, I can relate to that, I needed to hear that, or I feel encouraged by that? You never know who may find inspiration in your story. Third, authors of best sellers are compensated well for their work. A dynamic read pays off. Galatian 6:9 says let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
With that said, stay focused, determined and excited about your career because this is one story no one else can or will write for you. You must keep writing until you get to your dynamic read. Now that’s my story for today and I am sticking to it!
