Sometimes we jump to conclusions about other people without fully understanding what drove them to their actions. If you want to understand a person’s action, learn their position. Don’t just look at what they said or did, but the why behind the action.

As one thinketh, so is he. One’s mindset is where everything is birth. Think about the word itself MIND-SET, your mind is set or positioned to think and process information a certain way. It is often set or positioned by what it has been exposed to and personal experiences. This is one reason why we find it difficult to understand each other at times.

To change an action, you must start with the mindset; address the assumptions and belief behind the actions. What’s your position? A question that can bring more understanding if we searched for the answer more often. We become narrow minded when we seek to understand from our point of viewing only.

Try to understand the driving force behind others’ actions before forming an opinion about them. Even if it is an action you don’t totally agree with, search for their position. It’s okay to have varying opinions about a situation, you are entitled to your own thoughts. But, how often do you stop to try to understand what the differences are based upon. We can empathize with one another more if we look for the root cause behind the action versus the action itself. Knowing the thought behind an action helps bring clarity to the intent for the action (regardless if you like it or not).
